Last week, John and I got a new addition to our little family. A BEAGLE!!!! He's the cutest, little fucking thing in the whole wide world. In a week and a half, I've become one of those people obsessed with my dog. His name is Sammy Davis Jr the dog (yes, it is on his whole tag) AKA Sammy AKA Sammy Day AKA Sammies AKA Sammy Baby. He's the little love of my life. We adopted him from a weirdo lady who rescues puppies out in Akron.
He's so smart. He's destroying the potty training. We have very few accidents and if we do, it's just pee. He's also super friendly and loves other dogs no matter how giant they are (he tried to get fly with a pair of greyhounds at the park). We've also met a bunch of creepy beagle people which is fine because I'm on my way to be one.
Although he takes away hours of sleep from me and never let's me go to the bathroom alone, he's absolutely perfect.

Happy to be Nappy

I get compliments on my afro daily. It's my baby. So healthy, soft and big. So I'm gonna share my hair care regime with you guys. If you're not natural maybe it'll make you appreciate the naps more. And if you are natural, hopefully it'll inspire you to try some new products out.
I always wash my hair in cold to warm-cold water. Never hot!!!! (I turn it up when it's time to get my body. Nothing is better than a shower so hot it turns your skin red) I get about a palm full of Yes to Carrots! Nourishing shampoo. I give my scalp a good scrubbing and rinse. Then I repeat focusing more on the rest of my hair. Rinse again. Next I follow up with the Yes to Carrots! Pampering conditioner. I'm a firm believer that you can never use too much conditioner, so load it on. Then I comb my hair with a wide tooth comb. Making sure to just pull off any loose strands. I let the conditioner sit for 2-3 minutes. This is usually when I wash my body (Also using Yes to Carrots! products) I hold my head upside down and rinse while combing the hair with my fingers.
Next, while still in the shower with dripping wet hair, I add Kinky-Curly Knot Today leave-in conditioner (Again, I love conditioner) About a quarter sized amount. Evenly distribute through hair. Add more if needed. Grab your wide tooth comb and completely detangle. Your hair should still be wet at this point. Divide your hair into quarters. Add a dime sized amount of Kinky-Curly Curling Custard to each section while combing through with fingers. Then add a little more and run through whole head with fingers. Then shake your head like a doggy!
Once out the shower, add Carol's Daughter's Mimosa Hair Honey to the scalp to keep it nice and moisturized. And last, but not least, the only non-natural product I'll use on my hair, John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Extra Strength Hair Serum. I use about 4 pumps and evenly rub through my hair.

At this point you can pick out your roots to add volume, but on the first day of my wash and go, I like to let my curls be. For day 2-3 I spray my hair with a water/lavender oil mix and pick out.
I hope that this inspires someone. Beautiful hair is the shit!

Pasta Bolognese
So my new obsession are all the gawkerverse apps for the iphone. I literally can spend hours looking at stuff.
Anyway, I found this awesome recipe here on Generation Y Foodie's blog.
Ingredients:
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 medium onion, diced
2 medium stalks of celery, diced
2 medium carrots, diced
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/4 lb dry rub bacon, chopped into 1/4" pieces
1/2 lb spicy (or mild) italian pork sausage, casings removed
1/2 ground sirloin
4 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 cup dry white wine (sav blanc or pino grigio both work well)
1 cup low sodium chicken broth
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp fresh rosemary, washed and chopped (or 1 tbsp dried)
2 tbsp fresh basil, washed and chopped (or 1 tbsp dried)
2 tbsp fresh oregano, washed and chopped (or 1 tbsp dried)
This is a dish I'll make again really soon. It was quick, and delicious.
Time: 30 minutes and then left to simmer until ready to eat
Lasted about 2 days.
Tips: Buy ground sausage to avoid having to squeeze it out of the casing.
